Recipe Management
Create and manage distilling recipes with precise botanical ratios.
Recipe Definition Types
Per Litre of Charge
Most common method:
- Define grams of each botanical per litre of liquid in still.
- Easy to scale for different still sizes.
- Example: "12g juniper per litre of charge".
Per Litre of LAA (Litres of Absolute Alcohol)
For precise alcohol-based calculations:
- Define grams per litre of pure alcohol.
- Useful for consistent flavor regardless of charge ABV.
- Example: "30g juniper per LAA".
Per Batch
Fixed recipes:
- Define total grams for a specific charge volume.
- Best for exact replication.
- System can scale if needed.
Creating a Recipe
- Go to Recipe Management → New Recipe.
- Enter recipe name and spirit type.
- Choose definition type (per litre or per batch).
- Add botanicals with amounts.
- Save for future use.
Using Recipes During Distilling
- Start new distillation batch.
- Select recipe from dropdown.
- Enter your charge volume.
- The system automatically calculates:
- Grams of each botanical needed.
- Total botanical weight.
- Checks inventory availability.
Recipe Scaling
Per Litre Recipes
Automatically scale based on charge:
- 100L charge = 100× the per litre amounts.
- Maintains consistent botanical ratios.
Per Batch Recipes
Can be scaled proportionally:
- Enter new charge volume.
- System adjusts all amounts proportionally.
Best Practices
- Create recipes for your signature products.
- Test small batches before scaling.
- Document any recipe changes.
- Include notes on technique or timing.
- Review and refine recipes based on results.
Managing Multiple Recipes
- Organize by product type.
- Use descriptive names.
- Mark active/inactive recipes.
- Keep experimental recipes separate.
- Share recipes with team members.
